I have one of the tin toys, unfortunately he doesn't name the maker either because there's no trade mark!

Image

He even has a yellow variant.

Thank you for finding that site. I saved it in the Favorites so I can study the tin toys!

This Army Ordnance helicopter was distributed by the New York Merchandise Company pre 1967. I'm not sure who actually manufactured the toy. By the way, the Army Ordance also came in a green windup version.

As you mentioned, you can find this friction style of toy in a Yellow Navy Rescue version. There are also airline versions like KLM, BOAC and Pan Am, etc, etc.

The Police Highway Patrol version all over the place because it was released by many, many toy distributors. I know that Cragstan released the Police version of toy individually and in a number of sets.

That top variant is made by NGS and distributed by Cragstan.

The second is distributed by Cragstan - I'm unsure of the manufacturer...

I looked at my records and found a green Army Ordnance friction version in a cool Military Set that was also made by NGS.

Maybe that means NGS made most of this style of toy?

Thanks guys. Okay, now I know I have one "NGS" chopper to keep my jet liners company.

In looking at your photos I can see that the Police version has a cutaway tail boom while the Army Ordnance has a solid boom with lithographed detail showing the beams (or stringers?).
