More CIJ Die Cast 1950s Aircraft

Postby grwebster » Sun Sep 26, 2010 9:45 am

Had some time on my last trip to the USA to take some better photos of the CIJ aircraft series. This French producer is not all that well known but most of the toys they produced were top quality, until the last generic Caravelle that is.

Here is the DC-7, Note the way the main gear legs extended back to allow the toy to sit correctly.

And finally the different versions of the Caravelle

and what I suppose is the last version, generic, no decals.

I have noted some difference in the Caravelle's landing gear wheels over this period.

I forgot this boxed variant of the 707. Again, it is thought that these boxes were give-aways on flights.

This looks like the TWA Prop era scheme ... at least one other toy maker, Haji, also used this on a jet.

My Air France 707 has a painted black nose. I thought a previous owner painted it on but I see your boxed example has the black nose also.
