Toys Nomura Lufthansa 727

I recently bought a Lufthansa 727 made by Toys Nomura. On the side of the box it says "12.75". Does this indicate the model was made in December 1975?



The model is 37 cm long, wing-span is 32 cm. Note the grey air-intake for the upper engine...

I love these late tin toy planes from the 70's, especially if they come with the original boxes. They are of my age!! Could have bought them, when I was young, but no money was there......

Is the "12.75" printed or hand written? If it is hand written, it is probably the sales price. If it is printed, it may be the issue date.

look a the first picture closely - "12.75" is printed on the side of the box. My guess is: It's the production date, not the price...
BTW: What did these kind of models cost in Deutsche Mark when they were sold at that time?

On my screen the pictures are in some way cutted off at the edge. Can't see it.

Nevertheless, if it is printed, it's not the price.

I have a GAMA Boeing 707 (last issue) in the box and there is still the price tag on it - 29,95 DM. That was a lot of money even in the early 70's and made at least half a christmas present.
As far as I know, the Japanese ones (comparable size) were sold at the same time for 15,- to 20,- DM.

This is so nice, it is great to see old-time-quality toys still made of tin in the 70s. Of course, this is hindsight-in the 50s and 60s people did not consider Japanese tin to be good quality.

Nomura also had an American DC-10 with opening door in this series before production moved to Hong Kong. One can see it in the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind one of the few movies to have a battery toy plane, F1 race car, tank, police patrol car, blushing Frankenstein "Mod monster" and Jolly Chimp in "supporting roles."
