Yes, i have seen the replica and spoken with some of the guys that built it. i hope they are able to find a permanent home for it soon. Here's a photo of the master for the Avro Arrow-it's not meant to capture all of the detail that a diecast model would, just the general shape. It remains instantly recognizable inspite of this.

Master for the new Avro casting. Base is also cast with a Canadian flag emblem on top. Very nice for the serious Arrow collector.

Scott,

Yes, I have also seen the full size mock-up before...last time was at its original home in the Downsview Museum. Hope it finally finds a new home soon.

Ed,

An interesting model. What is the size of this one? Do you have a completed example to show?

Apparently the new home is going to be a hanager at Pearson. As far as that miniature is concerned, I like it any idea where to get it or what the cost is going to be?

I'll post a photo of the finished model once it is ready-pricing yet to be determined but I'm thinking around $200 Cdn. These will not be mass produced- maybe a couple of hundred models at most. The polishing of the final product is fairly time intensive.

Well in my case it is two "seperate" animals: (1) Yes I am actively trying to find the ashtray that my grandfather made for Avro as it is very important to me to bring that home. However (2) I am interested in any Avro product but being a pensioner I reserve the right to determine that on a case by case basis as to if I can afford to acquire it or not.

Yes indeed. That is the dilemma most of us face in our collecting endeavours...whether we can afford the item or not. However, hindsight being 20/20, I certainly wish that I had purchased items that I could "not afford" at the time as, in some cases, I have never seen another example. And, in most cases, the price is even higher now.

Since you are interested in things Avro I will be posting some of my Avro related models in the appropriate sections of this forum as the days go by. I have just posted a Topping model of the CF-100 prototype in the Manufacturer's Models section.

Well as the saying goes "all things come to those that wait" It is not Avro related but 39 years ago I saw a radio controlled droid inspired by R2D2 the body was a can of Coke. I was in high school at the time and couldn't afford it. The dealer did let me take photos of it so at least I had photographic proof the toy existed. Well after 39 years of hunting I finally found one this spring with the box. The rc in it is fried but I finally found one !!!!!!!! Sure took long enough
