MichaelB- This is for you. I just got this finished and up on auction. And, Yep, those early national insignia were never on a P-51(H?) that Allyn Sales produced. But, it has the exact same markings that it came with originally from Allyn Sales production. I have had three with the same red-rimmed stars n' bars- Go Figure!

Well, the model has other shape problems, so I don't have a problem with the 1943 stars and bars - and certainly not if it is authentic to the originals on the model! Looks super, and I hope no one ever puts out a cigar with it...
