This toy has a unique, but obscure distinction, even for our own Die Caster Master Michael Bludworth.

OK, I'll bite...just on a hunch...this is the TinToys Caravelle with the upper fuselage (etc) in stamped metal, and the lowers in die cast?

HINT: IT IS DIE CAST METAL

Ha! ....there are soooooo many Caravelle die casts out there! Now you're going to make me step through them one at at time! It's the "distinction" thing that bugs me...and may be my only clue. (reviewing photos now).
If it's the Lone Star, it would be distinctive because of it's owner applied decals, or this could be the same with factory applied decals which would make it exclusively distinctive! If so, that's not much of a distinction!

You are right about one thing, there are many Caravelle toys. I just cataloged my CIJ Carravelles and found I have 3 quite different ones.
Now, as for Lone Star. That is a great guess, but alas, it is wrong. I don't think Lone Star did an Air France variant, only SAS decals/transfers were supplied with the unfinished boxed toy. But of course it could have been finished by someone using AF markings
The only Lone Star Caravelle I have was factory finished, and is shown here below on the right along side the mystery Caravelle.

I'm going to stop guessing because that plane is larger than anything I have...which also means I don't have anything to compare it to.

Stumped, Uhhh? Well finally I found a subject..... So you give up?
Hint. It was produced by a maker of what was considered one of the finest series of die cast aircraft whose commercial life started in 1944 and ended by 1969. It is not Japanese

Danish? Yep It is Danish, a beautifully made Tekno. Well done Chris. The details of this toy are exceptional as are their DC-7Cs.


These toys were issued in their own hard plastic boxes with a convenient display stand included.


But the quiz had two parts.
What was the unique distinction?
