Late Production: 1981 Boeing 727

In 1981 the Albany airport gift shop carried these small Japanese tin 727s. I could not believe something like this was still in production. There is a third variant, TWA, that I did not buy. I got the American during the summer and the United at Christmastime. By looking at the price tags, I can see the price increased by two dollars in a half year. The American is marked $3.98, the United $5.99.

Note that the colors of the American stripes are upside down, while the United has a yellow upper cheat line instead of orange. One of the interiors is also printed with markings revealing that the material had been destined to become a tin can. I think that becoming a toy is a happier "fate."
