Tomiyama's small size DC-7 friction toy, with its ten inch wing span, first appeared in the 1957 catalog. Lots of airline schemes exist. I think the planes looks great. As the photos show they were quite realistic!

It was even available affixed to a stand with grip action to turn the props.

Yonezawa (the sales agent) trade mark is also printed on these toys. Sadly, one tire on the United plane has gone flat.

Tomiyama made another medium sized DC-7 with a 12" span. This one appeared in the 1960 catalog.

It has an amusing feature: a lever-operated strip of metal inside the body with passengers' faces lithographed on it that is attached to an opening door with a tin air hostess figurine. When one pushes the lever forward the door is closed and the passengers' faces appear in the windows. When one pushes the lever backward the faces disappear and the door opens.

This is also a good scale model with accurate registration and even name: City of San Francisco.
