QUIZ #7- Is This All The Itallian Mercury Aircraft?

Postby grwebster » Sun Sep 26, 2010 4:07 pm

This set sold at auction recently. It was framed and labeled as an original and complete Mercury set.

It wasn't. Mercury only issued three boxed sets with a much smaller selection of aircraft.
One of our talented members, Bob Dros made up the background to which the aircraft were attached. It is a beautiful way to display them BUT.........it isn't complete either.

Here is the Quiz question: One known variant is missing from this collection. Which one is it?

The Sparverio tri-motor with Italian registration letters on the wings that you posted once?

Damn, you guys are good. Tone is right.
Here is my very poor example, but not many of these around.

Here is a page from the Mercury book thanks to Jose. Note the three gift sets.

There were two other variants: The Corsair with painted red nose rockets and the Vampire with Swiss registration roundels, a rare special issue for the distributor of the Mercury range in Switzerland.
