It's the AVRO 707, a miniature version of the Vulcan, used for testing.

Right. Make you wonder, no. With all the great aircraft around at that period, why Mercury would pick a test bed aircraft, and an English one at that.

That's one of the great questions in a lot of cases, eg, why did ZEE choose the F-84 and not the much more well known F-86 to model?

Michael, who cares, I really like the Dyna-Flites toy F-84, it looks cool and the casting is multiple pieces no less ... besides, everybody else made an F-86, what?

There aren't all that many F-86 toys either - a bit late for the industry overall, especially for the far east producers which came of age with releases of Viet Nam war planes.
