Michael,

You may know that I lived in England from 3/1990 to 3/1992 which coincided with the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain (and the first Gulf War). Kellogg's Corn Flakes had a promotion where you could get a Spitfire or Hurricane if you sent in a number of box tops. Needless to say, I ate a lot of cornflakes and got one of each. The Spitfire was the same mold as the Matchbox. This was before I started collecting seriously and I think I ended up losing them. However, I was able to get replacements from a source in the UK.

I got my first airplane while I was in England. It was a pewter Spitfire on a stand about 1:100 scale. My wife was a good sport and took me to the air show at Biggin Hill the summer of 1990, probably as a reward for attending the Phantom of the Opera and sitting in a cramped sit for 3 hours. That's the start of my interest in toy airplanes although getting the Matchbox Harrier was the point in time where I started "accumulating".

It's always good to remember where we came from...nice story. Early '90s...the end of an era and the start of a new one!
But, at the end of your list, you say "Tonka Polistoy Hawker Hurricane Olive green, camo wings"
Which is it? ...or do you have more stuff?

...keep the ones that have some attachment...the others are transitory...

SB-38 A BAe 146 Thai Airlines MIB
SB-38 A BAe 146 DanAir MIBP

Thanks,

Hi Bill,

Thanks for putting these up! I found this forum while searching for some SB-35's to add to my collection. I wonder if you are still offering these aircraft for sale.

I am very interested in the following:

SB-35 A MIL Mi Hind-D Helicopter Two tone brown camouflage MIBP
SB-35 A MIL Mi Hind-D Helicopter Two tone brown camouflage MIBP
SB-35 A MIL Mi Hind-D Helicopter Tan/gray camouflage MIBP
SB-35 A MIL Mi Hind-D Helicopter Tan/brown camouflage MIBP

Please let me know much you expect for them along with shipping costs. I am willing to pay any reasonable collectors' amount for these helicopters as I understand these are out-of-production models which are rare to come by in such mint condition.

Thank you so much and happy holidays!

Here is the beast in question. Has this gone out of print? For Matchbox it's a pretty good piece for detail and accuracy. "Toy" helicopters are always a treat since the rotors are so easily broken and difficult to produce and package.

Michael,

In addition, to the one you have pictured, I have 2 others. One is a dark gray/light gray camo and the other is a dark brown/very light brown (almost a cream color) camo.

10-4 on that, Bill - I just don't have pictures of them handy, and will NOT be dragging them out right now. Here's the Hind in the 1995 line up. The picture also includes the Shuttle which was under discussion just awhile ago. This set is from 1995.
I'll point out that in 1988 it was Matchbox International.
In 1995 it was Tyco.
In 1996 it was Mattel.
...these were not the good years for Matchbox, but several of the issues from this time are very hard to find as they have been dropped from the line. The C130 and 737 come to mind.
