Chinese Fighters for sale or trade

Postby BoeingDriver » Wed Jan 06, 2010 4:47 am

I'm cleaning out the closet and find this bag full of Chinese fighter aircraft models that will never see the light of day in my collection. What to do? Offer them to you folks, of course.

What they are: souvenirs from the Chinese Air Force museum in Bejing. I picked them up about ten years ago--why? I don't know but they were for sale and I had a pocket full of Monopoly money and you know how it goes. The models are similar in size to Topping or Precise fighters but not nearly the same quality. The plastic is a hard but lighter and they are all painted a base color, markings are airbrushed and then they were sealed with a clear laquer that is yellowing in spots. The stands are all marked "CY" as pictured.

There a seven planes total. I just noticed the Shenyang F8 (?) didn't make the photo shoot because the stand is broken (It's fixed now).

I'd like to trade or sell this as a lot. If I could get just one Topping/Precise/Rolen airliner, USAF transport, or the like I would be a happy camper. Other than that make me an offer--think in terms of the $ equivalent of a really nice single malt whiskey and a couple of Fuente Opus X cigars. Or talk me down to Bud and White Owl.

If you want to contact me just use boveman@insightbb.com. The PM function on this board confuses me.

Nice stuff - and almost unique! Keep 'em if you like 'em, but I think interest will grow in the coming decades. Otherwise - away with them - I bet there are some collectors that would be thrilled to see them.
...but not me!

Ladd, you can fly anything in the USAF inventory, even Airbus equipment, and yet you can't send a PM on this board? Oh, the shame.
But I agree, it sucks, and isn't user friendly. So continue to post your personal email. This however may get you some spam in your email inbox as spammers use robots to search forums to obtain valid email address. This is why most forums allow user names, and offer the PM way to contact other members.
But hey, I know the USAF LTC's retired salary coupled with your UPS salary may inhibit your collection acquisition capabilities so.... just wait for some nice guy who has millions tucked away in a Nigerian acct contacts you and needs your help. Or even better, as I realize you guys who can't handle rotary wing aircraft may have been short changed in the package department, I am sure some other nice folks will offer you a penis enlarger via email. Meds? you ask? Just wait and you will get lots of fine offers. All this will come your way UNLESS you follow the instructions below.
BE SURE YOU HAVE LOGGED IN>
From a post - to the right of the posted msg there is a box under the authors name with PM next to it. Click on the box.
This takes you to the USER CONTROL PANEL with the members name you want to send a pm to in green at the top with a little x in a box next to it.
You may want to delete the automatically copied text, but in any case just type your msg, then click SUBMIT. An email from the site will go to the member you want to contact.
Where things may exceed the capacity of a USAF fixed wing aviator is when you want to send a pm to someone and there isn't a post to reply to.
In this case, go to BOARD INDEX at the top of every page, then USER CONTROL PANEL
click on tab PRIVATE MESSAGES
if you know the member's user name type it in the box, then click the ADD box. if you want to add others, type in each user name and click ADD.
If you don't remember the User name click on FIND A MEMBER in blue letters
This takes you to a new small window, SCROLL DOWN to Members and go through the roster to find the member you want. Click on the box to the left of his user name, go to the bottom of the page and click box SELECT MARKED. The box will close and the user name will now be in the address box on your opened PM page. Now Click ADD and type your msg, call out 'Clear Right! Clear Left!' then click SUBMIT.

GR,

Tough to take from a rotor head! MichaelB and I were trying to communicate privately and had about a three day breakdown--figured you were blocking all key words having to do with plastic kit building!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
