This Alps New York Airways VT-107 has beautiful, precise lithography and detailed passengers in the cabin windows. I found a photo of it in a 1966 JC Penney catalog on the web site "Wishbook Web" alongside some other nice toys. Have a look:

Funny you should say so - I hadn't noticed that before! It looks to be, but I thought he had a type rating to fly a 707 that sounds like a B-29.

Here is another variant I noted today.

Certainly this livery looks like a "generic" version of the New York Airways scheme: note the cheat line shape and font titles ! ! !

Interestingly, this more "generic" version of the toy had a terrific feature none of the other liveries had: it came with a stand.

When on the stand, you can switch the toy "on," and the whole fuselage rotates in a circle as the rotors spin and lights flash.

It's a really sharp set-up and is one of only a handful of helicopter toys that came with a stand when sold.

It makes for a much more interesting display. See for yourself:

That stand looks similar to those included with the TriStar and DC-10.
