Hello all,
It is my pleasure to be the newest member of your collecting community. Many thanks to Richard Starr for suggesting this site and to GR for assisting in the process.
I have been collecting since I was a young boy. Back then, in the 1960s, I was the son of an RCAF serviceman and we were posted to Canadian bases in Canada, France and West Germany. I built plastic aircraft models and collected aircraft Dinky Toys. My bedroom ceiling and wall shelves were full. Along the way my interest has grown to include RCAF (post WW2 to 1968) jet-era flying gear such as helmets and oxygen masks, flight suits, squadron patches, etc, etc. However, my interest in aircraft models has always been strong and I collect them to this day...again focused only on the RCAF.
My present model collection includes display models made by Topping, Precise and Fomaer and aircraft models that were given to squadron members as departing gifts or retirement presentations. I also collect any model that pertains to the Avro Arrow, a Canadian designed aircraft that was canceled by the government back in 1959.
I am a former Canadian Armed Forces and commercial airline pilot and am presently employed by a Flight Simulator company here in Canada. I look forward to "meeting" many of you here on the forum and spending much time browsing through all the previous posts.
Cheers,
Darryl
