Wyandotte Lockheed?

Another client sent me a Wyandotte Twin Engine Transport that someone years ago hacked of the stabilizers. The question was could I convert this to a Lockheed with twin fins? Yes. Pictures show the conversion beginning. A cardboard template was created to figure out design outlines. Then steel was cut. Next came punch the impressions for the elevator and rudder outlines. Finally, in this stage, the assembly was soldered in place. See pictures for process results...

Yea, created a monster. I now have ten requests for similar "Casablanca" toy conversions and two Beech 18 conversions. I still find that a very large grouping of toy and model airplane collectors would much rather have a modified or pristine overhaul than an original. It is a unique issue.

Well, since the original was in such poor condition, it's an excellent way to "recover" a classic piece - especially when done so well! Happily - it's not a bank!
