Aero Mini

GR asked me to take photos of my collection for his books. I probably have 1,000 photos on Photobook so I thought I'd share.

New collectors who weren't active in the 60s and 70s may not appreciate the quality that those Aero Minis represented to those of us who were. There were no other quality metal 'scale' toys around back then. They were simply the best.
Great collection, Bill. I don't recall ever seeing an Aero Mini USAF F-4 before.

One of the items I traded to Rick some years ago for an Arnold SAS DC-6 was an aero Mini Phantom but it wasn't in as good condition as the ones shown here. Do you still have it?

HEY TONY,
Yes, I still have the AERO MINI PHANTOM. At the time, there were very few good metal
PHANTOMS; I believe the AERO MINI, the DINKY, and the ERTL. Of course, the
excellent LINTOY, the MATCHBOX SKYBUSTERS. The ARMOUR CDC 100TH did not exist at that time.
I also have the CHROME ISRAELI PHANTOM roughly 8 inches fuselage.

My favorite is the AERO MINI LOCKHEED F104G Starfighter, for the same reasons.

WOW! I LIKE YOUR GERMAN AIR FORCE AERO MINI LOCKHEED F104G THE BEST.
I actually have the silver AERO MINI USAF PHANTOM, and one of the
ROYAL NAVY BLUE PHANTOMS. Your AERO MINI GREEN ZERO is very
impressive. You have a very, very remarkable and colourful collection.
I too remember when the AERO MINI AIRPLANES were the world standard for
many, many years (25); Especially the DOUGLAS DC8 and LOCKHEED F104G.

I am cheating a little bit here. This is a picture of a Boeing 2707 in the same size as the later delta
version that Aeromini planned. However, this one is in Aer Lingus colours. They had two on option.
It gives an idea of how coool the model would have looked, especially when parked alongside my Brian Tomkins

do you have a list of all the Brian Tomkins Aeromini conversions? I heard he was the European distributor for Aeromini and decided to add to the range with BOAC, TAP etc versions. I also heard he used 'played with examples' he bought up. Any more information you can add, Ralph?

I just reread the article I wrote on Aeromini's founder. He said brian was not an authorized distributor, but just a wholesale buyer.

As you say .Brian was only a wholesaler. I still think his models were a useful addition.
