Mercury #419 Douglas Skyrocket

This basket case Mercury Skyrocket arrived with some other projects a few years back. I decided to at least make it look pretty and pretty complete. After removing the remaining paint I devised a new probe made from metal so that it could be displayed. I will investigate reproducing a plastic probe at a later date. The most difficult hurdle was making sure the decals were like the originals- small ! I find the Mercury toy airplanes a marvel of miniature casting engineering especially with the landing gear systems.

Nice work! Mercury isn't quite a sow's ear, but you've fixed it up better than they did!
