Cragston NGS Air Control Tower

Postby mthomeidaho » Fri Oct 20, 2017 7:16 pm

Are we familiar with this crazy little airport tower, airplane and helicopter in a key-less wind up carousel like package from NGS Japan? Ingenious linkage.
Of course it was distributed by Cragstan. Measures 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. Oh yes, the little red convertible that also goes around is a charmer!

This is a great little toy!

I think S&E (Suzuki and Edwards) manufactured it, then partnered with NGS (Japanese Trading Company ?) & Cragstan (U.S. Importer) for distribution.

Alas thanks for posting the photo - the aircraft are even simpler-looking than some of the 25 cent toys I have. The tower is good-looking. It looks like one of those panoramic rotating restaurants.

That is one of several things I learned from browsing the "Danefield" Alphadrome-Home of the Robots message board. For several years nobody knew what NGS stood for. Then, all of a sudden, apparently one of the collectors did some research and posted the answer there.

I can now date this toy at least as far back as 1963. It appeared in a Cragstan trade catalog from that year.

Thanks Tone and Mark. Always with the great info. Most definitely all the folks at the revolving restaurant are having some of that great airport food!!
Cheers
