Bandai made a "Vertical Liner" toy that very closely resembles the Ryan and Hiller HC-142. I suspect that aircraft was the inspiration for the toy. You can see it as the second toy featured in the following thread:

Here's another good one...

This "Motorised" kit features a Cool Batcopter, ready for assembly. The toy was released in England in 1966 by Kim Toys (Scalecraft) on behalf of National Periodical Publications Incorporated.

Once assembled, the toy is just under 9 inches long and 4 inches tall.

The packaging reads "As Seen on A.B.C. Television." It's is one of the earliest and hardest-to-find promotional toy releases that came on the heels of the hit television show.

Using a Hughes 500 was obviously a matter of expediency for Corgi. Regardless, as a diehard Batman fan, I still really like it. It's remarkable how valuable some of the gift sets featuring this toy can be.

Sounds like the original 1966 Batman film helicopter was a Bell 47. I got my Corgi Hughes 369/500 batcopter at a UK Sunday morning car boot(trunk) sale 1989ish probably for £1. The rotor blade plastic is a bit brittle on these I managed to splint a blade back to the hub with a hot steel wire spar and epoxy but I see you can buy replacement bat-rotors now. I just like the accuracy of the die casting,but I can understand some people hating the bat-rotors or hating that it wasn't the type used in the film
