"Red Pegasus" Logo - Japanese manufacturer

Postby hovermd » Thu May 29, 2014 2:49 am

I recently purchased a Flying Helicopter toy.

The toy was manufactured in Japan, but I don't recognize the company logo.

It's appears to be a red winged horse (Pegasus?) and looks really close to the old Mobil oil company logo (see below):

Any ideas which Japanese toy manufacturer used this logo?

Mikuni used a horse symbol, and the Russian Vyatka used horse heads, but they didn't look like Red Pegasus seen on your 'copter box. Summer, recent and current manufacturer of very cheap plastic+die cast toys uses a green hoss with three pine trees as a symbol. The graphics are great. Too bad the 'copter itself isn't a Flying Horse.

Thought: Since the logo is so similar to that of Mobil Oil, and that one is registered, might not the toy be a Mobil promotional item? After all, the firm produces jet fuel that could be used in helicopters, no?

I'd love to be able to attribute it to Mobil Oil, but I don't see any direct reference at all.

The helicopter is called the "Lark." I'll include another photo here to show it off a bit more.

It's a really nice item. I have a BUNCH of flying helicopter toys that work much like this one. These free-flight helicopter toys were made by various manufactures in the USA, Japan, Germany and Hong Kong. I think the Lark's "Heliport" metal launcher is probably the most creative hand-held launching system of any of them.

Here's a post that I did earlier that features some of these flying toys:
