My WWII Naval Attacker Collection

Postby Epap » Fri Feb 04, 2011 5:06 pm

-----well, that part of it that is 1:72nd scale and is currently sitting on my display shelves, anyway. With the arrival of a nicely rendered TBD by SkyMax, my USN collection is just about complete----just missing the Vindicator. And, thanks to SkyMax and Hobby Master, I now have plenty of Japanese Vals and Kates to balance out the collection. Here's a picture of the TBD and a few of its friends:

Always impressive, ED. Keep em coming.
You are going to have a long wait for a vought vindicator I fear. It was a dog. I don't think it served in WW2 either, did it?

Thanks, GR. The Vindicator did fight in WWII. The French Navy had some in 1940, though I have never heard how they used them. We used Vindicators operating from the island during the Battle of Midway, but most of them were shot down by AA fire or Zeros. I believe that Vindicator units were also based on carriers operating in the Atlantic ( USS Ranger ) but were assigned to training duties in the Summer of 1942. The Brits got some as well, calling them Chesapeakes, but don't seem to have used these planes extensively in combat roles.
