Promo VC-10
Posted: Wed Nov 03, 2010 2:19 amAgain, from our show this past weekend, I found this little VC-10 staring at me long before I noticed it! A bit bigger than similar, it's about 1/500 and is gold chrome over plastic - not resin, but good old styrene. The stand obviously says BOAC VC10 and should undoubtedly date from the entry of service of same.
I have included it in a group shot with my other "plated" give away planes. This is an interesting little genre of production and I'm gratified that there seems to be even more to find out there!
The VC10 entered service in 1964, and the Super VC-10 in 1965, so I would date this piece to that time.
BTW - these things are really tough to take snap-shots of! The plating is so reflective it really spoils the light!
