Renwal

Postby grwebster » Fri Dec 11, 2009 11:05 am

On ebay now is the large size renwal B-17 current price is over $165.00. Like Dinky Toys collectors in the UK, American Renwal collectors want all the planes cars, trucks {..and boats} made by the firm. This makes the planes go for astronomical prices on occasion. In the description the seller states a date of 1944 but I am sure Renwal started after the war in 1946-7. Anyone know for sure?
Here is what I believe to be the first toy they produced using the first box graphics. It is the small sized one.

In fact these are two different toys. Early box, early B-17. Late box, late B-17.

John Reifenrath wrote and said that he has a Renwal airplane toy ad from 1944 issue of Air Trails so the start of this firm has been confirmed to a much earlier date. Hope he can scan the ad and post it here.

Here is a simply gorgeous C-54 Skymaster I have in grey/green. It flew in from the northwest coast several years ago.

This is the only helicopter toy attributed to Renwal that I've seen - it's a whistle toy:
