Agusta Bell 205 Metal Presentation Model

Postby fliegerii » Sat Dec 04, 2010 10:32 pm

I recently found this Fomaer model of a Agusta Bell 205 in South France and got it for a very reasonable price.
It is made of aluminium and very well finished.
Scale is 1/50.

Helicopter Aluminium models are very rare.

Didn't know Fomaer made one, and it is the early Bell UH-1D/H as the tail rotor is on the original side. When the actual aircraft was produced under license in Europe the tail rotor was changed over to the other side, as were the most recent US built examples. I am told that this increases the efficiency in flight.
A tiny detail- all US built helicopters have main rotors that rotate counterclockwise, the European producerss, except the Bell stuff, have clockwise rotors! I have no idea why.
So Chris- you were in the South of France and didn't stop by?

This model was a surprise for me as well. I know, that Fomaer also made helicopters, as their 1988 catalogue features a MBB BO-105, but I never saw this stuff so far.

The model is from Marseille, pretty far to Grasse. And I was there for business (tyre testing @ Miramas), so no big chance to travel after work was finished. I assume some connection to Eurocopter, that this model was for sale down there.

Difficult to say.

Here is the photograph from the catalogue. Usually Fomaer models are made of aluminium.
Not sure about your BO-105.
