the truth is... i just don't not have enough space for getting into toys
Here now the rest of the F-105's
The large plastic Topping/Precise with vietnam camoflage F105 have now also the correct arrowhead stand
The small camo is from Precise
The metal 1:50 is a Verkuyl F-105 - with the wrong stand, it is the precise stand - the topping/verkuyl was the black one

Now I understand you limitations on collecting space, solumis, after having seen the size of your German BAC 1-11 on the other post.

Incredible, do you have other that scale?
I had a french collector tell me he had a 6 meter {18++ feet} long Concorde model in his basement. Turns out he did. After he died it was given to a museum.

Wouldn't 3 meters be only about 9-10ft? Still, a big one...they are always impressive but usually lack detail to the same level. The Frontier of Flight Museum at Love Field in Dallas (KDAL) has an excellent collection of these big birds.
Here's one from our collection...not quite a Concorde but just an SST. It came from Continental so it has to date from 1968 or so. It's only about 6 feet long and a real beauty!
Any speculation on the maker? Maybe Blaine again....

Andi--your Thud collection just keeps getting better and better. I still am impressed with your Republic casting.

Michael--My guess is Pacmin on your SST. I've seen a number of those done by Pacmin with the old style sticker. Of course I could be fooled by the photo so you may have to send it to me for positive ID

This thread has been remarkable. I have to thank the guys who helped out with this project. sosliptream and michaelb for modelling techniques. Solumnis for a file scan of the correct decal and some contact information for Mark Johnson. I contacted Mark and he sent me partial decals which was all he had--he said they were better off on a model than in his decal box. Nice guy. Check out his website-- http://precisemodelsllc.com/default.aspx

That said I have another question: When you talk about coating old decals with lacquer what is it you use and how much do you apply?

Cheers,

Ladd

Ladd,

As an opinion, and making some assumptions....

1) If you are covering with old decals, before removing the decal from its sheet, then I would use a Krylon Clear Acrylic Satin Clear or even Krylon Clear Acrylic Coating (slightly heavier). A laquer such as Deft Clear Laquer will work but sometimes does not keep a brittle decal intact.

2) If the decal is fresh, can be water soaked and applied intact, then, when dry, a thin layer of laquer should work fine. If it can be applied with an airbrush, all the better, The idea is to preserve the decal and protect it from minor abrasions.

Good Luck,
Tom Sanders
