Bryan, I have recently handled my Bronzart collection that has been, for the most part hanging in the same place for 10 years.
While I am not a capable craftsman and avoid doing repairs or restorations on anything I obtain, I did from the beginning decide to strip and then prime and paint most of the Bronzarts. Factory issued Bronzarts were unprimed and only a thin coat of paint was applied I had noticed that the exposed metal on some of the ids turned a darker shade and thought it best to cover the exposed model. I have not had any issues with the 'lead rot' problem, ie lead carbonate dust forming on the models. I will post today in the other thread { problems with lead toys} some surprising things I learned from an exhaustive article that Dennis Ramsey sent me.
For those that have not seen a Bronzart ID from 1941 here are a few:
B-17, refinished but not by me
an original untouched P-40
a Ju-52 stripped, primed and painted by me
an original as found P-47
another P-47 stripped, primed and painted by me.
